Columbia Orthopedics Residency Program Director Charles M. Jobin, MD co-authored a study on lesser tuberosity osteotomy (LTO) in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery titled: “Outcomes of lesser tuberosity osteotomy in revision anatomic shoulder arthroplasty.” The retrospective case series determined what the outcomes were of LTO during revision arthroplasty. The study found that:

"Patients undergoing LTO during revision anatomic shoulder arthroplasty demonstrate successful LTO bony healing, improvement in pain, and improved forward elevation. In select patients not requiring humeral stem revision, LTO is a safe and effective surgical approach to subscapularis management during revision anatomic shoulder arthroplasty."
