Diagnostic Test Scheduling & Information

If your doctor requests you undergo one or more of the following diagnostic tests, therapies, or treatments:

  • MRI/MRA
  • CAT SCAN
  • Bone Scan
  • EMG/NCS
  • Hyalgan / Orthovisc / Synvisc injections
 

Please call your insurance carrier to verify whether you need pre-certification to receive coverage for any of the procedures, tests, or medications your doctor has prescribed for you. If you do require pre-certification, please contact our office at (212) 305-0622.

Our office staff will obtain all necessary authorizations through your insurance carrier. Please be advised that it may take up to 3 business days to obtain authorization/pre-certification.

Once the authorization/pre-certification is obtained, our office staff will contact you with this update and any information you will need to schedule your test and/or series of injections with the doctor.

Remember to take your requisition/prescription for the test to your testing appointment.

 

What Do I Do If I Don't Hear From Your Office?

If 3 business days have passed and you do not hear from our office, please contact our Pre-Certification Department at (212) 305-0622 for immediate assistance.
Please do not call the doctor's main office listed on the front of the appointment card.

 

How Do I Get My Test Results?

After you've scheduled your diagnostic test, you will need to:

  • Schedule an office visit with your doctor to review your test results.*Please mention the reason for the visit to the Appointment Scheduler.
  • Obtain a copy of the test results and the radiological films from the facility that performed your radiological tests, such as MRI, CT & Bone Scans (most facilities can provide you with the films on the same day as your test), and take the results and films with you to your visit with the doctor.
  • If your doctor specifically said he/she would call you after receiving the test results, please contact his or her office directly after you have taken the test to alert our staff and provide your contact information so the doctor can reach you.

What If I Need To Reschedule My Test Appointment?

If you are unable to keep your scheduled testing appointment, please contact the ancillary facility directly to reschedule.

To ensure test results are available for your next appointment with Columbia Orthopedics, you may also need to contact our Appointment Scheduling Office to reschedule your appointment with us.
