The Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center is the first of its kind on the East Coast. We are devoted to providing care to patients with cerebral palsy (CP) and their families, as well as guiding care during the transition from childhood to adulthood through an expanding network of adult care specialists knowledgeable about cerebral palsy and related disorders. As CP is a condition not limited to children, the Center seeks to expand both access to and knowledge of treatments and options for adults with cerebral palsy.
In addition to excellence in patient care, the Weinberg Family CP Center is further dedicated to providing education and training for the medical community and families through conferences, workshops, and materials about lifetime care for cerebral palsy. The Center is sponsoring research devoted to improvements in CP care, and is the first medical institution in the country to establish a comprehensive Cerebral Palsy patient registry to lay the foundation for research, new discoveries and innovative treatments.
Columbia’s orthopedic surgeons are committed to providing top quality care for patients with cerebral palsy, including surgical and nonsurgical options for foot problems, leg problems, hip problems, spine problems and treatment for spasticity to increase mobility, muscle tone and coordination. We offer a spasticity clinic, physical therapy and related services.
