Nattaly E Greene, MD
Overview
Nattaly E. Greene, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and a member of the Adult Hip & Knee Reconstruction team. Dr. Greene will see patients at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) Herbert Irving Pavilion (HIP), as well as the ColumbiaDoctors Midtown location at 51 West 51st Street. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS).
A distinguished graduate of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. Greene completed her orthopedic residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She further specialized in hip and knee joint replacement surgery through a fellowship at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York. Her clinical expertise focuses on the latest techniques in total and partial knee replacement, total hip replacement, and revision joint replacement surgery, while her research interests include improving patient outcomes in joint replacement.
Originally from Colombia, Dr. Greene immigrated to the United States at 19 with two bags and a dream of becoming a physician. Her journey included a variety of jobs that shaped her unique perspective, from working as a cattle farmer—where she performed her first-ever splint on a newborn calf—to becoming an orthopedic registered nurse before pursuing her medical degree.
Dr. Green is passionate about positioning her career as a means for social justice and hopes to disrupt cycles of poverty by partnering with underserved communities and restoring mobility and function to patients. “I grew up witnessing firsthand the effects of wealth inequality and injustice, which spurred my interest in orthopedics,” she said. “By doing so, I believe people will be able to lead more active and happier lives, as well as being more likely to become part of the workforce and improving their income potential.”Gender
